Two Color Pyramid Clutch

Image
https://youtu.be/vCHCFkzyg9A?si=Pm9PmvCUaPCi6m8H It’s time to use my stash yarn again. This time, I thought about making a two stripe pyramid clutch. After completing the clutch, I decided to make this into an educational crochet along project. Material: Yarn : 2 different colors with the same weight. One dark and one light. Light yarn was used about 27 ft (≈8.23m) Dark yarn was used about 29 ft (≈8.84m) Hook : #E (3.5mm) Because we are making a clutch, tighter stitches are necessary.  Therefore, I choose smaller size hook as the yarn label recommended. For example, because I chose 2 medium weight worsted yarns.  Usually the recommended crochet hook sizes from the label are between H(5mm) to K(6.5mm).  However, I used size E (3.5mm) hook for this project. Zipper: 5 inches Darning needle Stitch markers A pair of scissors Techniques will be learned from this project: How to make knit stitches, also called waistcoat stitches. How to make invisible j...

Doily Tjörn 1

Image
One night while traveling in Iceland , we stayed at a guest house.  During the showing around the house by the host lady, I noticed she has many beautiful craft works including some doilies and coasters displayed around the tables in different common rooms and our bed room.  There were a few simple coasters displayed in our room.  They looked almost identical but with different thickness. All of the sudden, I had the urge to duplicate that coaster. To me, the most impressive one looked like crocheted with size 30 thin thread. I decided to take a picture and studied the stitches when I got back home. After we went home and settled down from the trip, I looked around my stash crochet thread, and noticed that I do not have the thin thread like that coast but the classic size 10 crochet thread. I understand with different yarn or thread can make the same product with different visual result.  Nevertheless, it would be fun to figure out the stitches and make the same ...

Cell Phone Pouch

Image
After I accidentally left my phone on the Uber ride to the airport, I became paranoid and got so worried about my diminished memory.  Haha.  So I decided to make a cellphone pouch for myself. I found this lovely pattern from https://www.pinterest.com/pin/885168501743468857/ I wanted my pouch to be sturdy.  So I chose to crochet with nylon thread. Thread: Artiste #2 Nylon Thread, color Brown Hook: 1.5mm (#7) With the hook size and thread thickness, I was able to make the complete pattern for my pouch. I designed this pouch to have a bottom opening in case I am on the road trip and I need to charge my phone. I also wanted to have a sturdy strap.  So I referred to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRvCLgl5WWk to make the strap My husband liked this pouch.  So I made another one for him.

Post Stitch Leaf

I found a beautiful leaf made by Ms. Sidsel Sangild: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIFgtWYO0ZY . Because her leaf is double layered, I asked myself, “Can I make this leaf with only single layer?” After a few trials, here is the final outcome: This leaf uses a combination of front and back post double crochet stitches. It can be easily adapted with any kind of yarn or thread with appropriate crochet hook size.
