Flowers and Leaves Project (花花草草集一堂)

 


This year, the pandemic scare is not fun.  I never thought I would get infected by Covid-19.  Even I work with patients who are cleared to enter the building; I wore the masks all the time and practiced good cleaning protocols.  With all the precautions I did, I thought I should be ok from getting that horrible thing.  Well, I hit the jack pot, and had to be in quarantine for a month.


Staying in the confined room can really drive a person to drink.  So I decided to make my isolation time useful.  I always want to replace one of my picture frame content, but never made up my mind what to replace with.  These days I realize that I have learned so many different crochet techniques, but never made a picture out from crochet.  This is how the whole project idea was born.


In this project, I used Irish crochet techniques to make different flowers, leaves and clones, and Romanian crochet techniques to make cords with different width.  I then use Brussels stitches to connect all the pieces together.


I am happy the way it turns out.

新冠病毒把整個世界搞得烏煙瘴氣的.連我這個治療病人口罩不離臉頰,儀器用完馬上清潔,一天洗手不下百次的人,竟然也會重特獎.當然啦,居家隔離就是下一步了.整天自己一個人關在房間裡,實在是不好玩.得找點事來做做.左想右想,決定用鉤針來自創一個圖樣,把客廳的舊相框內的圖片換掉.


這次我用了愛爾蘭鉤針法來鉤花,葉子,及小果子.我還鉤了不同寬度的羅馬尼亞繩結.最後以回紋捲針法將所有的東西連起來.


整個成品看起來的感覺蠻好的.

Crocheting a ruffled doily is always on my bucket list. At this holiday time, I made two ruffled doilies with very different yarns. The Nosegay Doily Flower Centerpiece The Nosegay Doily was made with crochet thread 100% Mercerized Cotton, size 10, and #7 (1.5mm) crochet hook. For the life of me, I could not figure out the correct connecting instruction.  So I decided to make my own. I noticed that each fan pattern consists of 16 double stitches with 1 chain stitch in between 2  double stitches.  So if I made them as one unit before the joining, it would make my life much simpler and easier. Two Color Chevron Bag

  I am so excited to complete this bag. I made two different versions. Version #1: Yarn: 1 skein of Bernat super value yarn, color Forest Green About 25 yards of Simply Soft yarn, color White Hook: #F (3.75mm) The body and the strap of this bag are made with Chevron stitches. The bottom of the bag consisted with textured wave crochet stitches. I also made two Romanian cords as conning pieces between the bag body and the strap. Version #2: Yarn: Dark color (D): Red Heart super saver color Claret / Bordeaux about 400 yards Red Heart super saver color Royal about 400 yards Light color (L): red Heart super saver color White about 60 yards Hook: #F (3.75mm) The body and the strap of this bag are made with a combination of Romanian cord and single stitches.
